Mt. Pleasant Area Chamber of Commerce issued the following announcement on Sept. 27.
MidMichigan Health has earned two honors by the 2019 College of Healthcare Information Management Executives (CHIME) HealthCare’s Most Wired awards. MidMichigan received the Most Wired Certified Level 7 Special Recognition, as well as the Most Wired Certified Level 8 Quality Award.
For the Most Wired program, an annual survey is conducted to assess how effectively health care organizations apply core and advanced technologies into their clinical and business programs. Organizations receiving honors in Levels 7 and 8 have deployed technologies and strategies to help them analyze their data and are starting to achieve meaningful clinical and efficiency outcomes. Some of these organizations are experimenting with more advanced technologies, like telehealth, that expand access to care.
“The future of health care is evolving at a rapid pace and information technology needs to be in front of those changes. The more effective we can be when it comes to implementing new programs and services for our patients helps us be more effective in the care we provide,” said Dan Waltz, chief information officer, MidMichigan Health. “Being recognized as a Most Wired organization is nothing short than incredible for our organization. With the support of our leadership, we have had a continued focus on information technology and how we can best serve our patients and health care providers. The implementation of our electronic medical record across the health system (most recently in West Branch) and successful telemedicine program are just two of the many visions we have made a reality.”
A total of 16,168 organizations were represented in the 2019 Most Wired program, which this year included three separate surveys: domestic, ambulatory and international. The surveys assessed the adoption, integration and impact of technologies in health care organizations at all stages of development, from early development to industry leading. Each participating organization received a customized benchmarking report, an overall score and scores for individual levels in eight segments: infrastructure; security; business/disaster recovery; administrative/supply chain; analytics/data management; interoperability/population health; patient engagement; and clinical quality/safety. Participants can use the report and scores to identify strengths and opportunities for improvement.

It is an honor to be among those that perform at the highest levels, knowing that the excellence they achieve will impact patients for years to come.”
This is the second year that CHIME has conducted the survey and overseen the program. Last year CHIME made numerous improvements to the survey, governance and scoring methodology. This year CHIME added an ambulatory survey in addition to the domestic survey, expanded international outreach and incorporated an improved system that allows participating organizations to better benchmark their level of adoption and outcomes achieved. The system includes Most Wired certification at a level that reflects an organization’s overall performance. CHIME also revised the customized benchmarking report for ease of use and will again publish a report based on Most Wired responses to identify industry trends in 2019.
