State Representative Tom Kunse has announced the final reminder for an art competition open to students from first to twelfth grade in Michigan’s 100th House district. The theme, “Celebrating Rural Michigan through Art,” invites young artists to creatively interpret rural life in the state.

The deadline for submissions is April 1. Students can submit their entries by emailing a photo of their artwork to [email protected]. Submissions must include the student’s name, grade, school, parents’ contact information, and home address.

Kunse expressed enthusiasm for the contest, stating, “I can’t wait to see all the final products that the students come up with. I know they will use their creative minds to design a great interpretation of rural Michigan.”

Winners will be chosen from two groups: first through eighth graders and ninth through twelfth graders. Winning pieces will be displayed in Rep. Kunse’s office in Lansing.

Eligible artworks must be two-dimensional and created using specific mediums such as oil paintings, drawings with colored pencils or pastels, collages, prints like lithographs or silkscreens, or mixed media involving more than two techniques.

To determine eligibility based on residence within the district, individuals can visit the state House website for verification.
