Chairman John Moolenaar of the House Select Committee on China has reached out to Almonty Industries, Inc. for detailed information regarding its ability and willingness to supply tungsten to the United States. This mineral is crucial for the U.S. defense sector, particularly in ammunition, aerospace components, and advanced electronics. The country currently lacks domestic production of tungsten.

In his letter, Chairman Moolenaar emphasized the strategic importance of tungsten and the potential role of Almonty’s mining operations in decreasing U.S. dependency on China for this critical resource. He stated, “Tungsten is an essential input in a wide range of defense systems, including armor-piercing munitions, aerospace components, and advanced electronics.” He also noted that reliance on imports from sources linked to China presents a significant risk to U.S. defense readiness.

The committee’s inquiry seeks data on Almonty’s reserves, production capacity, and commercial relationships with Chinese entities. Chairman Moolenaar underscored the committee’s commitment to addressing China’s influence over critical mineral supply chains and ensuring that America’s industrial base remains equipped to defend itself.
