Eastern Michigan University’s track and field athlete Gabe Singh has been recognized as the Mid-American Conference (MAC) Men’s Track Athlete of the Week for the second time in the 2025 outdoor season. This announcement was made by the conference office on Tuesday, May 6.

Singh, hailing from Toledo, Ohio, showcased his prowess in the 400m hurdles at the Jesse Owens Classic held by Ohio State University on May 2-3. He secured first place with a time of 50.62 seconds. His performance ranks him second in the Great Lakes Region, 17th on the East Qualifying List, and third in Eastern Michigan University’s program history. Singh’s achievement also placed him sixth on the East Qualifying List and 14th nationally over that weekend.

This season, Singh’s efforts in the 400m hurdles are nearing historic levels. He is just .72 seconds away from matching Central Michigan University’s Al Washington’s MAC record set in 1988. Additionally, he is .54 seconds shy of tying Jeff Dils’ EMU program record from 1979 and .16 seconds away from former Eagle Eric Alejandro’s second-best time in program history.

Earlier this season, Singh earned recognition after achieving a conference-best mark of 50.67 seconds at Texas A&M University’s 44 Farms Team Invitational.

This accolade is Eastern Michigan’s fourth outdoor award this season and seventh overall for the academic year. Other notable athletes who have received awards include Lachlan Cornelius and Saraiah Walkes among others.

The Eagles will compete next at Hillsdale College Last Chance on May 7 and at Len Paddock Open hosted by the University of Michigan on May 9.
