Eastern Michigan University’s baseball team concluded their weekend series against the University of Toledo with a 6-2 loss at Oestrike Stadium. The Eagles now hold a 14-17 record, with their Mid-American Conference (MAC) record standing at 9-9, while Toledo improved to a 13-21 mark and a 7-11 conference performance.

Drew Jones from Cleveland and Cooper Vance from New Waterford led Eastern Michigan’s offense, each securing two hits during the game. Vance’s contributions included a double. On the pitching side, Brady Sasse of Toledo emerged as the victorious pitcher, while Tyler Kapa took the loss for Eastern Michigan.

The Rockets took the lead in the third inning and maintained it throughout the game. Eastern Michigan tied the game briefly with contributions from John Hale and Logan Hugo but could not sustain the momentum. Toledo’s consistent scoring across subsequent innings, highlighted by an RBI triple and sacrifice fly, sealed their victory.

Despite the loss, several Eagles delivered notable performances. Vance achieved a game with multiple hits for the third time consecutively this season, marking his tenth in total. Norris threw a season-high of three innings, while Ethan Davis ended the game with four strikeouts in 2.1 scoreless innings. Also noteworthy, Hale and Hugo increased their season RBI totals to 22 and 34, respectively.

This game marked the 179th encounter between Eastern Michigan and Toledo, with EMU leading the historical series. Looking forward, Eastern Michigan plans to face the Albany Great Danes in a subsequent weekend matchup.
