Ten days after achieving a 10th place finish in the finals at the NCAA Zone C Diving Championships, Eastern Michigan University freshman diver Megan Lupa is set to compete at the NCAA Swimming and Diving Championships. The event will take place at the Weyerhaeuser King County Aquatic Center in Federal Way, Washington on Saturday, March 22.

Lupa, who hails from Campden, Ontario and attends West Niagara Secondary, is only the second diver in Eastern Michigan history to qualify for nationals in the platform dive. She follows Mugs Cullings, EMU’s first NCAA qualifier, who achieved this feat 36 years ago during the 1989 season. Head Diving Coach Tom Gimm sees this as a significant milestone as it marks his first national qualification since taking over.

The Mid-American Conference (MAC) recognized Lupa as Freshman Diver of the Year. Her entry into the national championships was secured with a personal best score of 480.20 points at the NCAA Zone C Diving Championships. This accomplishment represents Eastern Michigan’s 16th all-time NCAA qualification.

Lupa stands out as the sole MAC diver among this year’s national qualifiers and is one of four MAC athletes competing in this meet. She joins swimmers Abigail Daniel from Akron, Zita Szoke from Ohio, and Madeline Padavic from Miami. Notably, she is one of only 13 freshmen nationwide to qualify for the platform dive category.

For those interested in following Lupa’s performance live, coverage will be available on ESPN+. Additional details about attending or accessing full meet information can be found through Eastern Michigan University’s official channels.
