The Eastern Michigan University (EMU) rowing team marked Senior Day with a successful series of races against the University of Dayton on May 3. Competing at the EMU Rowing Course at Ford Lake in Ypsilanti, Mich., the Eagles claimed victories in all three scheduled competitions.

Eastern’s rowers secured wins with their 1V8+, 3V8+, and 1V4+ boats. The day commenced with the 1V8+ race, where the EMU team finished in 7:13.5, leading by 11 seconds ahead of their own 2V8+ crew, which completed the course in 7:24.6.

In another event, the 3V8+ team from EMU faced Dayton’s 2V8+ and secured a substantial lead. The Eagles won this race with a time of 7:46.5, which was nearly 50 seconds faster than the Flyers.

The final event, the fours race, saw EMU’s 1V4+ and 2V4+ boats capturing the top spots. The 1V4+ team crossed the finish line at 8:21.1, while the 2V4+ team posted a time of 8:44.7.

Eastern Michigan’s rowing team is set to compete next in the CAA Championships on the Cooper River in Pennsauken, N.J., on May 16-17. This event will be the team’s final appearance as an affiliate member of the CAA, with the Mid-American Conference integrating rowing into its sports roster starting the 2025-26 academic year.
