Nelson, who hails from Toledo, Ohio, becomes the first Eagle to secure a professional contract since Emoni Bates joined the NBA’s Cleveland Cavaliers. During his time at Eastern Michigan, Nelson distinguished himself as one of the top players in the Mid-American Conference (MAC). In his only season with the Eagles, he earned Second-Team All-MAC honors and averaged 16.8 points per game during MAC play. Over the 2024-25 season, he posted averages of 16.1 points, 5.7 rebounds, and 2.6 assists per game.

Nationally, Nelson was among just four players to average at least 16 points, 4.5 rebounds, 2.5 assists, along with over one steal and block per game. His defensive skills were evident as he averaged 1.1 blocks and steals per game while achieving a conference-best mark of 1.4 blocks during league play.

Nelson also led his team in rebounding with an average of 5.7 per game and was adept at drawing fouls from opponents, leading to a league-high of 149 free throws made for the season.

Fribourg Olympic is known for its success in Swiss basketball, having won the Swiss Basketball League championship 17 times and securing three consecutive Swiss Cups.
