CMU Esports teams qualify for Esports Collegiate Conference championship

Central Michigan University announced on April 1 that its varsity League of Legends and Valorant teams have qualified for the Esports Collegiate Conference (ESC) Championship, marking a notable achievement for the university’s esports program.

The qualification highlights CMU’s continued investment in student development through competitive gaming and reflects the growing importance of collegiate esports as part of higher education. The ESC Championship features the top eight teams from across the conference, bringing together institutions to compete in a structured environment.

Both CMU teams earned their spots by performing strongly during the regular season against other collegiate programs within the ESC. The event is scheduled to begin March 28 in Akron, Ohio, hosted by the University of Akron. The ESC was established in 2019 and includes schools from the Mid-American Conference along with other colleges across the United States. It organizes competition across several popular titles including League of Legends, Overwatch, Rocket League, Super Smash Bros., and Valorant.
